Amazon Plasma Cutter cuts through 1/4" Steel

So I got this plasma cutter from BestArc which is a seller of these plasma cutters. Don't fall for this when buying a used car

So this video I've put together is a tutorial on how to find a good used car. There are a lot of scammers out there and so this video also centers around the most common scam, which is when someone turns back the odometer so that a high mileage vehicle is "fixed" to show low mileage. I would say about 1/3 of all of the vehicles I've looked at in the $6k-$13k price range have ahd their odometers...

Use a 3/4" PEX-B Coupling to Fix Your Garden Hose

Cheap, quick and clean Garden Hose Repair with PEX. I repaired this hose that had a hole in it with a 3/4" PEX B coupling and crimp rings. The benefit to this is that it's easy, the couplings are pretty cheap and they don't leave something to get snagged on as you drag the hose around. The only con to this is that you will need a hose with an approximate OD of 3/4" and some hoses might be a lit...

    If they don’t leak, no need to cut them off! If they don’t leak now, they won’t leak in the future, 99% likelihood! Anyway, doing the right thing is always a good thing!

      I definitely do not adhere to the "if it's not leaking it's fine" camp. I have found fittings that started leaking 6 months, a year, 5 years, 10 years, after installation, and most of the time it's because of an obvious flaw in the installation method (bad solder, insufficient pipe depth, crooked crimp ring, too tight of a turn after the fitting, etc). But regardless, like you said, do it right, and if you have a call back, or a claim, it won't be from improper installation. Doesn't take but a second more to do it right, though it did take a day to fix all of these bad fittings. Better a day now than weeks and $$$ later.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction 16 днів тому

      Yes, it's been working fine. The no-go gauge is my only test for calibration and I've never had an issue. I don't know if it can be calibrated like the propress versions. I would imagine the shaft or bearings would need to be replaced, or the jaws, but besides that it shouldn't really need maintenance. Some other jaws have screws that can be undone and the jaw position changed and that is how you "calibrate" it.

      @TOOL_TECHNICAL 16 днів тому

      @@MyFortressConstruction I see. keep up the good work I know the actual pro press isn't really DIY level in terms of pricing but man is it tempting apart from that almost $3000 price tag not including having to buy the pex heads separately from the Copper/steel/black pipe jaws

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction 16 днів тому

      Yeah, so I get the propress from liquidators for about $1200 and sell them on eBay for around $2000. I'd keep my eyes on eBay for full kits or even used ones in good condition. If there's high inventory (around Christmas) then you can get better deals. Never hurts to ask for a lower price from a seller even if they don't accept offers.

      @@TOOL_TECHNICAL There's a lot to youtube and I don't know 1% of it, but I'll tell you what I think. People love to hate. Give them something to hate or make fun of and you'll get a lot of views. However, if you want to help, then make your thumbnail stand out and do a well made video with good audio and lighting. The thumbnail gets their attention, but you have to keep it. You have to become a videographer, which most of us who start like you, are not. That takes practice. Make yourself into an entertainer. Get a motto. I never have and I'm forgettable. Some guys have some slang they use that makes them famous (AvE is prominent for his verbiage). If you find a method or video layout that gets lots of views, repeat it. Use keywords, try different thumbnails (Canva and gimp are free and what I use), make the same video in a long format and short and see which one does better. Just try things out and keep on doing videos. Most people have to make 50+ videos before youtube notices them. Some, it's their first, because UA-cam takes your video, throws it in front of a few people and sees if they engage, stay for a while and watch to completion. If it sees that, then it will send your videos to more people. It's why a lot of videos get 20-200 views in a short time frame, and then nothing, or one to two a week after that. It's rare for a beginner to have a hit straight off the bat, but it's possible. If you like it though, can handle stupid comments and trolls, and don't mind getting nothing from it for a bit, then just keep on going and you'll get better as you go.

    Mine was stalling like that too even after a new blade. there are 4 screws on that bottom plate that mount the motor. 3 were broken off so motor was moving inside the housing. I had to remove the broken studs, replace the 4 bolts and that solved it. there was play in the drive shaft before now its solid. I also discovered after doing this it is quieter and the batteries last way longer. I suspect this was moving around and wasting energy before they broke off and started the stalling issues.

      Then you have a break in your line somewhere. I would make sure that one line coming from the breaker is properly connected at the breaker and doesn't have plastic or corrosion creating a problem. If you confirm that the connection at the breakers are good and that you do have 120 volts on both legs of the breaker then it has to be the line and a squirrel chewed through it or something.

      Yes, the level of quality of most trades just keeps going down, but I find it's due to laziness just as much as ignorance so hopefully someone watches this video and thinks, "Hm, yeah, I'll watch more carefully next time." Might be a pipe dream, but I'll keep hoping. And yeah, I haven't been making too many videos, but I've always been sporadic... How has your channel been going?

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection Місяць тому

      Technically I have 49 videos. 26 full length videos and 23 shorts. My channel was monetized in October 2022, and for the most part I have been making $135-$160 per month from Adsense. The weird slightly concerning thing lately is, I was getting 1,000 to 1,800 views every 48 hour period back in Sept 2021, and not counting shorts views. Even after a bunch more videos, it’s been 1.0K - 1.4K views every 48 hours. I have double the amounts of videos, but not double the amount of views. My guess is that there are so many other videos of similar content, that it’s just a competition for viewing eyeballs, since I’m not the only program on UA-cam. I know you have around 125 videos. When we started chatting, you had 114 videos. You made that video for me, and of course I’m curious how much you’re making now. Shooting videos at the job site is pretty easy. Getting around to editing and actually doing the editing takes A LOT of time.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Місяць тому

      @@craftsmanconnection Yes, so more and more I realize that UA-cam doesn't care about DIY videos. At best tutorial videos will get hundreds of thousands of views over their lifetime. Now, this isn't a hard and fast rule, especially if it's a super common issue (How to change a light switch) and you just happen to make a great video about that one thing, but UA-cam is driven by entertainment. That's what they know will keep people on the platform and that's what the algorithm is searching for: Engagement or a majority. So, if you want more views you have to do "viral videos", or story-telling. People will listen to a story while you carve and craft, but they won't listen to ten minutes of a how-to video on replacing a window, or if they do, they won't be coming back since that's someone looking for help, and not the majority of internet surfers. So, you can become like blacktail studio, John Malecki wood working, etc. and produce high quality story driven narratives along with your work, or you can make DIY videos that won't ever make a lot unless you have exceptional camera work and an engaging personality. I'll keep making videos that probably never make a lot. However, when I post a video about something dumb like this trim video, it will get 10x worth of views compared to other actually helpful videos, but which don't entertain. People love to hate on you, or what you're hating on in the video, or just mindlessly watch you work if it's cool enough. So, when I first started talking to you I was making about $400-$500 per month I believe, now it's down to about $300 per month. All of this income is from one video primarily. 99% of my other videos don't make hardly anything. If you see a youtuber doing the same video over and over and over, it's because they've found what the algorithm/people want, and they can reproduce it almost infinitely it seems... If you keep on going and can craft your persona and video editing into a very gripping story, while also demonstrating your skills, then you have a chance to eventually be recognized by youtube and promoted more, but doing that does take a lot of time and additional knowledge of audio and videography (unless you hire someone to take your footage and make them into a video). As someone who obviously isn't a pro and could also do with following what I'm about to advise: The first thing you can do immediately to make your videos better is to make better thumbnails. It's something I've been practicing and still haven't gotten great at, but study the science of thumbnails. The next recommendation would be to get better audio. Jobsites are terrible for audio, but even voice-overs are better than tinny, or echo-y sound. The third would be to keep things short and only show the most important parts of your videos, jumping to new things constantly (they recommend every 3 seconds) is the pinnacle of good video making. Watch Blacktail studios and pay attention to how much is voice over he does and the average clip duration. He constantly story tells. Now, I obviously don't follow these things, because they are difficult to do, but if you have the drive and time to do them, then it makes a huge difference.

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection Місяць тому

      Videos take a lot of time to create (film, edit, voiceovers, upload, thumbnails) and I always wonder what I could have done better. Should they be shorter? Should they have less info, as I can be very wordy? How’s my editing style? Should I add music to whatever parts of my video? I like to include how much time and money something cost, or how much I charge to do these things. Partially to tell my potential clients what a project like this would cost them, and partially to share with other trades people or new trades people what I charge, so maybe they don’t undercharge and almost lose their financial behind as they’re scared to charge more. I have always wondered just how many videos would I have to make to replace my contractor income. If 26 regular videos make me $110-$160 per month, how many would I need to make $100K-$150K per year? Holy smokes Batman!

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection Місяць тому

      By my calculations of my videos and some info from you, it would take 260 videos of my videos to make $1,100 to $1,600 per month. So if I wanted to make $10,000 per month, I would need somewhere around 2,300 videos. If I made 26 videos in 3 years, it’ll only take me about another 90 years to complete that 2,300 videos. 😂😮😢

      Yeah, it takes some practice to find each saw's sweet spot. The Milwaukee had more torque than the DeWalt 16" so I could push it harder, but the DeWalt spins faster so it cuts faster but you have to be light handed with it.

    Been using pex since it came out. No problems with a close crimp. Ridiculous

    Pex is very forgiving most of those aren’t good but probably won’t leak

    I got the DCS566 in a combo deal and looks exactly like the DCS565, do you know the difference?, great video btw.

      Thanks, and yeah the 566 is basically the slightly downgraded version of the 565 and doesn't have an LED light, rafter hook, or aluminum base from what I see. Not terrible, but just some downgrades.

    Rigid lost me after they came out with their toolbox with drawers and made it a middle box and not a bottom box with wheels and priced it at $130. Im not going to buy a glorified milk crate for $40 if I have to modify it to hold what it was supposed to be designed to hold--TOOLS! 😂
